We had a lot going on last week. I met with all of my groups and I must say I feel really lucky to have such great students so eager to learn!
In First Grade we will be learning about one of our all time amazing thinkers, Leonardo Da Vinci. During this unit the students will learn facts about Leonardo as well as be inspired! We have two chapter books to cover and some amazing activities. Students will be challenged to become great thinkers as well as learn the art of creativity.
In 2nd and 3rd Grade our students are learning about programming. Last week we learned the basic steps of an algorithm, how to read one and how to write one. This week the students will familiarize themselves with our 4 robots and explore the dynamics of what they have to do to help them become interactive.
In 4th and 5th Grade the students were introduced to the Inventure Challange through Georgia Tech University. This week the students will learn the language of the inventions to come.
Talent Development was so much fun! Kindergarten learned the Magical Thinker types and decided what goals they could set for themselves. First Graders were introduced to analytical thinking skills, 3rd Graders worked together to solve a complicated problem while playing a game called Tanglers. Fourth Graders began to learn about clouds through STEMS lessons and even made some of their own. Fifth Graders discussed problems and how to solve them and then faced the CUP CHALLENGE to get first hand knowledge.
This weeks focus for Talent Development will be creativity. I can't wait to start those lessons!
